Skyway Luggage – New Collection

Eddie Bauer, Inc., a leading American apparel and home furnishings retailer, and Skyway Luggage, a specialty luggage manufacturer, announced today the launch of new luggage collections. The collections will be available in early Spring 2003 at Target stores and select retailers worldwide.

The Eddie Bauer collections by Skyway will feature more than 70 products ranging from wheeled luggage to duffel bags to travel accessories. All items feature wear and tear resistant fabric, self-repairing zippers, internal linings and exclusive zipper pulls.

Building from our history of providing outdoor gear, luggage was a category of great interest for us. The project became an obvious choice when we learned that Skyway would be a partner, said Don Perinchief, Eddie Bauer's Divisional Vice President of Corporate Sales and Licensing. When designing the collection we focused on durability, functionality and variety to support the range of activities in the American lifestyle.

Pieces in the collections include innovative construction features, such as:

Zero Gravity™ construction, making frames stronger and 33 percent lighter than conventional metal;

Extra packing room, allowing up to 25 percent more room when expanded;

High impact wheel housings or in-line skate wheels, both mounted on the outside corners of the upright cases, ensuring superior stability; and Roller bags that convert into backpacks, providing for extra portability.
